Learn coastal navigation and improve your sailing competency
You have your Basic Cruising standard or equivalency recognised by the FVQ or CYA? looking for a challenge, or want to rent a sailboat and be independent?
You will learn what you need to know to be crew or skipper a keelboat
over 30 feet to sail by day in moderate climatic conditions. The emphasis is on planning the trip. We limit the group to four trainees at the same level on the sailboat so your learning and sailing experience is uniquely yours.
To
master the elements of the course prerequisites, we suggest a minimum
of 40 hours of sailing in the year preceding this program.
You have attained the objectives of the course when you successfully
complete all elements of the practical part of the "Intermediate
Cruising" certificate program of the Sailing Federation of Quebec (FVQ). The
program is recognized internationally and is usually the minimum required
for a bareboat rental in other countries (rental without a skipper). For course reservation, Click here
Intermediate Cruising sailing extends over 40 hours on a C
& C33, liveabord, for at least five days, from Saturday to Saturday.
We hold these training programs only 2-3 times
per year. To get the most from this course, we recommend purchasing the book
"Intermediate Sailing Cruise" from FVQ and the Logbook. Order them during registration to read in advance at $40 and $18.
For this course as well as the Advanced Cruising, you will determine the destination moorings. Intermediate Cruising is offered a few times a year, for $ 995. Your docking fees, fuel, meals (including food for the instructor) and incidentals are separate.
